Formerly (although briefly) known as Cowboy Genghis and the Steele Mongolians, Hot Rod Lincoln is a group of good friends who work together at the Idaho National Laboratory. Determined not to quit their day jobs, they have nevertheless embarked on a journey together to bring music and fun to the teeming Idaho masses. Jim Lucas sings lead and harmony, plays electric, pedal steel, and acoustic guitar. He used to play with the Acoustic Yahoos before the band broke up in 2003. Eric Laing sings lead and harmony, plays electric and acoustic guitar. He was a member of Timberline, a band based out of Pocatello. He left Timberline to move to Idaho Falls. John Yeates plays the bass and sings. He brings a wealth of sound engineering expertise to the group. While this is his first band, he says he's having fun. Mike Pilo is a great jazz drummer, so he handles our red-neck rock-a-billy country folk music just fine. He brings a new drive and beat to the group that has been very well received. HRL has been playing together since early 2004 and having a blast. The only thing that we use to select the music we play is that we have to love it and enjoy performing it. Heck, if we're having a good time, so does everybody else. |
